On August 22, 2012 the Post coordinated with Cynthia Hoffpauir of the Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce ( which was then the Jeff Davis Business Alliance) in order to allow Post 19 to sponsor the Chamber's Jefferson Davis Parish Citizen of the Year as the Post’s nominee for American Legion Citizen of the Year Awards at 7th District, Department (State-level) and National level. Starting in 2017, Post 19 entered into an agreement to nominate the Jennings Kiwanis Club Citizen of the Year for American Legion District and Department-level Awards.  The following individuals have been recognized over the years since 2012:

2012 - Steve Broussard (also won at 7th District)

2013 - J. B. Broussard

2014 - Jeanette Gaudet

2015 - Heloise Cassidy (also won at 7th District and at Department-level). (See this Post History's timeline article dated July 5, 2016)

2016 - Sister Camille Martinez (also won at 7th District).

2017 - Donn E. Dees (also won at 7th District). 

2018 - Gene Van Hook

2019 - Vera Abraham

2020 - Carl Benoit
