1st. Lt. Leo J. Nugent was killed August 11, 1944 while participiating in a dive bombing mission southwest of Falaise, France.
P.F.C. Carl Demuth was killed April 7, 1945 when his tank was hit by enemy anti-tank and bazooka firing in the vicinity of Carlshafen, Germany

Aug. 15, 1949 an application for a temporary charter filed with American Legion National Headquarters for the formation of a Post to be known as Nugent-Demuth Post 714, Department of Iowa. (42 Members.)
