Post 298 honored their first post commander, Allen McElwain, in a ceremony at Cedar Memorial Cemetery on May 19 at 2 p.m. Commander McElwain’s granddaughter, Anita Clark, and her husband attended the event. Rev. Brian Channel officiated and the post’s honor guard provided military rites.

Mayor Nicolas AbuAssaly presentint Post Commander, Tom Thompson a donation to be used to assist veterans in the community.

 

Al Etzel (seated) is our most senior past commander (1967) and with him is Mike Etzel, who cmmanded the Post in 2007, 40 years after his father, and was the 2017 Department of Iowa Commander.
