Newspaper Article dated September 9, 1952:

The eight public installation of officers of the Franklin Park Post 974 of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will be held at the Little Theater of the Leyden high school at 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening Sept. 10.

At this service Earl Danhoff will be installed as Commander of the Post and Mrs. Clifford Calfas will take over the duties as president of the auxiliary.  They will replace the husband and wife team of Mr. and Mrs. Earl O. Winkel, who has acted as the leaders of the two organizations for the past year.

Because of a conflict of meetings for District Commander Charles C. Olin, installing officer for the Post, the new officers of the Legion will take over their official duties before the auxiliary unit has their installations.  This will mean that the ceremonies for the Post will begin sharp at 8 p.m. so that Commander Oklin can attend another meeting.

Mrs. Max Zimmerman, Past Cook County president will act as installing officer for the auxiliary unit.  She will be assisted by Mrs. Henry Kramer, past 9th district sergeant-at-arms.  Richard Kolle, 9th District sergeant-at-arms will aid Commander Olin in the Post installation.

Because of the public meeting on Sept. 10, there will be no regular business meeting of the post this month, but the social meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 22 at the home of Earl Winkel, 2022 Hawthorne,   The next business meeting will be on Monday, Oct. 13, at the Gouin Park field house when the plans for the coming year will be discussed.
