The obelisk in front of Post 80 was completed in March of 1977 and dedicated on Memorial Day 1977. A very creative photographer took a picture of the obelisk with the sun shining at it's peak. At 30 feet tall this is the tallest Veterans Memorial in Du Page County, Illinois. Each year a new plaque with the names of local veterans is added to the obelisk. In 2017 the last space was taken up by a plaque with 33 names
