Post 50 celebrated its 100th anniversary with an open-to-the-public party on Sunday, July 14, 2019 -- exactly 100 years to the day since receiving our charter from the national organization.

Virginia Topolski, past president of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, brought greetings on behalf of that organization as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eighth District American Legion.

DJ Lisa Whitehead entertained attendees from her perch inside the park's gazebo.

Post 50's oldest and longest-tenured member, Cliff Dahl, was on hand for the festivities. The 94-year-old has been a member of the post for 75 years.

Cliff brought along an entourage to help celebrate.

Festivities included free hot dogs cooked up and served by (from left) Angel Nieves, Rich Thurman and Joe Ruiz Jr.

Post 50 Historian Jerry Dagenais put together a montage of press clippings about our post .

Other Post 50 memorabilia included our original charter, a plaque listing all the commanders of the post and presidents of the now-defunct ladies auxiliary, and pictures of past post activities.

Past Commanders Joe Serbantez (left) and Jim Stachowicz made sure everyone stayed hydrated on a hot afternoon.

Volunteer Kevin Pattenaude manned the free popcorn booth.

T-shirts from the various Veterans Day parades and OPERATION: Honor events were available at greatly reduced prices.
