Donald G. Chasteen served as 86th Commander of Post 43 for from 2018 -2019.
Don was born July 25, 1947 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era as a Medic, He served for 7 years attaining the rank of SSgt.
Following his military service, he worked as a Machinist/Machine Repairman for 47 years at Navistar, Inc (originally International Harvester). Before moving to the Chicago area, He lived in a small community in West Central Illinois where he was a volunteer fireman for 13 years rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He was also on the local elementary school board.
Don was a charter member of American Legion Post 43 Legion Rider Chapter in Naperville. He served as Director for the first 5 years.
