Glenn T. Granat was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois November 10, 1956. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years followed by 3 years in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War Era. His Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) code was 11B1P, Airborne Infantry/Paratrooper. Glenn attended training schools at Ft. Polk, Louisiana; Ft. Benning, Georgia; Ft. Sherman, Alaska; Ft. Wainwright, Alaska; Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and Ft. Irwin, California. He completed 31 Military parachute jumps with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Glenn is employed by Brookfield Zoo as an Animal Keeper/Curator. He is an active participant on the Veterans Service and Recognition committee at Brookfield Zoo. His avocation is military history some of which he has shared in Post 43’s newsletter. Beside his wealth of military history knowledge, Glenn has amassed a healthy collection of military paraphernalia that he has displayed at Post activities.

He volunteered on the employment ministry at his church from 2010-2013; assisting and coaching people who were unemployed on resume, interviewing and networking skills. He previously served as the Finance Officer for the Chicago Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division Association and currently serves as the Vice-Chairman (2010 to the present). He is active in the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment Association, the Association of the United States Army and the Cold War Veterans Association.

After serving as Jr. and Sr. Vice Commander, Glen became the 81st Commander Post 43 2013-2014.
He remains active in all Post 43 functions.
