In 2010 Stephanie Penick was awarded Post 43’s Citizen-of-the-Year. The annual Citizen-of-the-Year Award recognizes extraordinary service to the Naperville community or to the Nation.

“Stephanie may be best known as the publisher of the aptly named Positively Naperville,” said Wayne Fischer, Chairman of the Citizen-of-the-Year Award Committee. “Since its founding back in 2001, Positively Naperville has made a huge contribution to the strength of Naperville by conveying positive messages about community service, about special events, about fundraisers and about our city’s rich history,” continued Fischer.

Penick also played a key role with the Naperville Riverwalk Foundation which serves as a vehicle for obtaining financial support for the maintenance and enhancement of the widely praised Riverwalk. As a leading member of Naperville Responds, Penick traveled to Pass Christian, Mississippi. Pass Christian was ravaged by hurricane Katrina, and Naperville Responds helped to rebuild the town. Naperville Reponds utilizes vital assistance provided by generous business leaders, associations and residents in Naperville.
