Naperville American Legion Post 43 presented their first Citizen of the Year award in 1976. It became an annual award in 1986. The Naperville Community is blessed with many people who serve their fellow citizens. Those selected must be Naperville residents whose service was performed in a volunteer capacity, rather than as part of compensated employment. In April of 1999 Chuck and AudreyBueche were named American Legion Post #43 Citizens of the Year.
Chuck served in the U.S. Army during WWII. A life member of Post # 43 Chuck was 70th Post Commander (1992 – 1993). He also served as President of Naperville Y's-Men's & Women's Club through Y's men International. Chuck and Audrey were charter and active members of Jaycees of Naperville.
