John Watson Brown was born in Rockford Illinois on July 18, 1920. He served in the Army and then the Army Air Force during World War II attaining the rank of Corporal. Following his service, he lived in Chicago for a time. In 1965, he moved to Naperville, Illinois with his wife and four children. He served as the 48th Commander of American Legion Post 43 from 1967-1968. He would once again serve Post 43 as 63rd Post Commander, 1982-1983. John died May 18, 2002, and is interred St Mark's United Methodist Church Memorial Garden, Tucson, Arizona.
