Past Commander W. Richard "Dick" Knosher was born in Naperville on June 3, 1919. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He served "3 years, 11 months, and 1 day." Initially Dick was assigned to the Band, but later was given the rating 137 ( Motion Picture Projectionist).

Upon leaving the service he returned to Naperville, the town he loves, to raise his familiy with his wife Millie. He was hired by Hines Veteran's Hospital and worked there as a movie projectionist until he retired.

Dick served as Post 43's 61st Commander, 1980-1981. Even into his 90's, he continues to attend meetings and social events. He keeps the Post informed of members who are ill or hospitalized. He is also a caller to remind members of upcoming socials. A true example of a "Veteran still Serving".
