The Forming of American Legion Post 13 Marne in Plainfield, IL

There were 22 men, veterans of World War 1 who gathered in Plainfield, IL. To form their American Legion Post. The Post was named after a famous battle of the war called The Second Battle of the Marne.

The year was 1919 and a temporary Charter was granted by American Legion Headquarters in New York. A permanent Charter was later issued in 1922 when the National Legion organization was established in Indianapolis, Indiana.
