Sgt. He was the first soldier from Marietta to be killed in WWI. He worked for the Dixie Culbert Metal Company in Atlanta, when he was drafted. He reported for training at Camp Gordon in Chamblee on September 22, 1917.
On April 22, 1922, at the General Membership Meeting of Post 29, it was decided to name Post 29 after Sgt. Orr.
The committee had the Post 29 POW-MIA Honor Guard here. We are pleased to remember Sgt. Orr for his great sacrifice 100 years ago.
