Southern Tech pitching star Ronnie Prince has drawn the starting nod for Post 29 tonight as the American Legion team travels to Athens to meet Post 20 at the Legion Field there.

Prince, currently 1-1 on the season, will attempt to get back in the victory column after a defeat in his last start against Calhoun.

Bruce Kapperman, the Metro Atlanta all-star center-fielder and one of Bob Duncan’s steady gardners on the Post 29 team, is still sidelined with a broken finger and is not expected to be available during the road trip.  Bobby Pope, another Sprayberry product, has not played at all this year because of a foot disease.

However, Duncan did sign up Osborne catcher-outfielder Terry Southern to man one of the outfielder spots.  Duncan coached Southern in Pony League play and feels that Terry’s bat will be a pleasant addition to the lineup.

Marietta has a Sunday doubleheader scheduled at Calhoun and Duncan has nominated righthander Barry Rhodes (Marietta) and lefty Randy Mosley (Sprayberry) to pitch against the defending state champs.  The twin-bill will get underway at 2 p.m.

Post 29 returns home to O’Dell Field next Wednesday for a region contest against Sandy Springs Post 261.
