The Area 2 American Legion Baseball Tournament gets underway Wednesday night, August 5, at Smyrna Ward Park, with Smyrna Post 160 as host. The Smyrna Post won the regular season area crown for the right to host these playoffs.
Only four of the area teams will participate in the Tournament starting with Marietta Post 29 and Calhoun Post 47, who clash in the first game starting at 6 o’clock Wednesday. Host Smyrna meets Rome Post 5 in the 9 o’clock game.
Losers in Wednesday’s opening round will face one another in the 6 p.m. Thursday game, with the two Wednesday winners clashing at 9 p.m. The tournament is expected to end Friday, August 7, but another final game could be played on Saturday, August 8 – should the winner of the loser’s bracket beat the unbeaten team I Friday’s 9 o’clock contest.
