The needy of Cobb County will face a brighter Christmas, for the third consecutive year, because several agencies and individuals are cooperating in a Cobb County Christmas Program.
The Community Christmas program is coordinated by the Cobb Emergency Aid Association, in cooperation with the Marines “Toys for Tots”, American Legion Post No. 29, Cobb County Clothes Rack, the Marietta and Cobb County Police Departments, and the Smyrna Jaycees.
For the first time, the Marietta Jaycees are coordinating their Empty Stocking Fund, with the program this year.
Objective of the group is to see that “all the people of the county who need Christmas help are assisted, at the same time preventing the overlap of services that might occur if each agency worked alone, “said Mrs. Robert Trottier, Emergency Aid Association Official.
Distribution of food and toys will begin Dec. 17 at the American Legion Post No. 29 on Gresham Street, Marietta. Hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through December 22. Arrangements scan be made for transportation to the distribution hall Mrs. Trottier said.
Any family wishing certification for the Cobb County Community Christmas Program can contact the Emergency Aid Association, Terrace Level of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Building, 428-2601; the Department of Family Services; or s member of the Jaycees in their area.
Volunteers for distribution program also are needed said Mrs. Trottier.
