COMMANDERS - PAST AND PRESENT - Horace Orr Legion Post 29 on the observance of its 37th birthday Tuesday evening paid tribute to commanders who have served the organization since its founding in 1919.
Pictured left to right are: A. L. Crowe, first commander , 1919-1921; Rogers Wheeler, 1942-43; Leon Van Woeart, 1943-44; John Roy, 1949-50; Charles Oliphant 1952-53; Herbert Barfield, 1954-55; and Cecil Dudley 1955-56. Present, but not pictured, was Warner L. Baker, 1927-29 commander.
The Legion Auxiliary observing its 36th anniversary joined the past commanders for the program. Past presidents of the Auxiliary nattending were Mrs. G. S. Fennell Sr., 1941-47; Mrs. John Roy, 1948-49; Miss Margaret Orr, 1949-51; Mrs. Mae Swanson, 1951-53; Mrs. Vernon Fox, 1953-55 and current president, Mrs. Robert Boyd. Department and District officers were present for the ceremonies which were highlighted by the traditional exchange of birthday cakes between the Post and the Auxiliary.
