Horace Orr Post 29 Legion and the Auxiliary celebrated their 37th and 36th anniversaries with a patriotic program and a gala party Tuesday evcening at the Post home on Gresham Avenue.

Commander Cecil Dudley presided at the normal celebration which was opened the presentation of the colors followed by the introduction of department and district officers.

Among the dignitaries attending were welcomed by Mayor Pro Tem Eugene Holcombe were: Dixie Walker, department chaplain, of Gainesville; Leon Hobby, department commander, of Moultrie; Judge A. L. Henson, third department commander, of Atlanta; G. C. Fennell, cheminot nationale of Georgia; George Osborne, department senior vice-commander; R M. Shuder, fifth district commander, of Atlanta and Roy Cousins, department junior vice-commander.

Recognition was given all past commanders of the Post and past presidents of the Auxiliary.  After his presentation, A. L. Crowe, first commander of Post 29 gave a brief history of the American Legion and told of the founding if the Horace Orr Post in 1919.

Membership pins were presented to the following Legionnaires: Harold Schilling, 35-year past commander's pin; G. C. Fennell Sr., 30-year; R. A. Wheeler, 25-year; C.D. Copeland, 10 year and Cecil Dudley, five-year.  Auxiliary past presidents' pins wre awarded to Mesdames G. C. Fennell Sr., John Roy, Mae Swanson, Vernon Fox, Robert Boyd and Miss Margaret Orr by Mrs. C. T. Hovis, department second vice-president.

In impressive ceremonies the Legion and Auxiliary held the traditional cake presentation with R. M. Shuder accepting for the Legion and Mrs. R. T. Ragan, national executive committeewoman, accepting for the auxiloiary.  The cakes were cut and served by Miss Margaret Orr, sister of Horace Orr for whom the post is named and Mrs. Vernon Fox, widow of deceased Legionnaire, Vernon Fox.

Judge A. L. Hudson, speaking for the Legion and Mrs. P. T. Dixon, past national southern vice-president, speaking for the Auxilary, closed the program by summarizing the aims and purposes of each group.

Refreshments were served from a table lentered with a sunburst arrangement of blue and gold flowers, carrying out the Legion colors.  Silver candelabra held royal blue tapers representing the Legion, pale blue the Auxiliary and gold signifying the torch each carries.
