General Lucius D. Clay, U. S. occupational commander in Germany and native Mariettan, has announced that he will join Horace Orr Post No. 29, The American Legion, as soon as he returns here.

In a letter to Post Adjutant Arthur L. Poor, the general said his plans for the future are not yet clearly drawn, but that when he comes to Marietta, he will sign up as a member of the local Post, "transferring from the Berlin Post of the American Legion to which I now belong."

General Clay's letter follows, in full:

"Dear Mr. Poor"

"Thank you very much for your letter of 8 March.  While my own plans are not sufficiently firm at the moment, I assure you that when I do return to the United States it is my one desire to return home for a visit anyway, at the earliest possible date.

"When I do, I should be very happy to become a member of the Horace Orr Post, transferring the Berlin Post of the American Legio to which I belong.

"I shall let you know as soon as possible when my own plans are firm.  Meanwhile, I would be grateful if you would give my best regards to Commander Ward and other old friends.
