In January 1924, Horace Orr Legion Post No. 29, Marietta, GA, organized an Auxiliary Unit with Mrs. W.E. Benson as President.

Mrs. Benson served 1924-1925; 1925-1926, after which the unit ceased to function and the charter was cancelled.  So far as known  there are no  records except the charter.

For several years the Post went along without a unit.  When A. E. McCleskey became commander of the Post, he set out to get an Auxiliary unit for the Post.

After meeting with Mrs. H. M. Renner, Seventh District President and Mrs. Grover C. Fennell, Sr., of Marietta, a meeting was called for the purpose of organizing a second Auxiliary Unit.  Mrs. Caroline K. Healy, was appointed as temporary chairman at which time she signed the application for a permanent charter.

On November 21, 1939, Mrs. J. Pat Kelly, Department President signed the application for the permanent charter.

On January 2, 1940, the permanent charter was received signed by Gwendolyn W. McDowell, National Secretary.  There were 45 members, 15 of which appeared on the Charter.
