Boy Scout Troop 250 held its first Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day 2018 at 2000 hrs.  It was a joint ceremony with the scouts and the legionnaires.

Flags were presented by the scouts to the Legion Commander as unserviceable flags for inspection and disposal.  The flags were determined  to be faded and worn and unservicable by the Legionnaires and it was recommended that they be honorably retired from further service and fittingly be destroyed.

The Post Chaplain offered prayer: "Almighty God, Captain of all hosts and Commander over all, bless and consecrate this present hour. We thank You for our country and its flag, and for the liberty for which it stands. To a clean and purging flame we commit these flags, worn out in worthy service. As they yield their substance to the fire, may Your holy light spread over us and bring our hearts renewed devotion to God and country. Amen."

The flags were loaded onto shovels, honored with final salue, and then lowered into the flames for final retirement with honors.
