This month we celebrate the 75th year of our organization. An outgrowth of World War I, the AMerican Legion has grown to be the largest veteran's organization in the world.
Founded for the purpose of providing support for the American Veteran, to influence veteran legislation, education, rehabilitation, child welfare, and a host of other patriotic activites, the Legion, since that humble beginning, has continued to serve the veteran's and communities of this nation.
Voluntary service programs, helping veterans who are patients in VA medical facilities to local charity campaigns, Legionnaires "GET INVOLVED".
This year's birthday celebration will include a special guest speaker, who I feel you will find has an interesting story to tell. Mr. James S. Fletcher, a veteran of World War II and a member of V-FORCE, has graciously accepted our invitation to speak to us on this occasion. V-FORCE later became the OSS.
I would like to tell you more about Mr. Fletcher, but I will leave that up to him. He really had an interesting period of service to his country.
The celebration of our 75TH ANNIVERSARY will be held at the Post Home on March 12th. I look forward to seeing all of you then.
For God and Country,
Al Crutchfield
Commander
