Early in 1953, Commander Max Parnell and the Executive Committee turned their attention to the long awaited building addition, and in February an Architect was hired to draw up the plans. On May 1, 1953 bids were taken and a Contract was let for the addition, which would double the size of the Post Home.
The cost of the new addition was $24,000.00 and the Trustees were authorized to negotiate a loan of $18,000.00 to supplement the building fund, and construction began. The addition was completed during the term of office of Commander Max Parnell.
