Vietnam Veteran Sam Pyle Receives Quilt of Valor for Distinguished Service

Past Cmdr Ronnie Pate introduced Sarah Parrot and Marry Chastain from the Quilts of Valor Group to members of the Post Family at the Combined Membership meeting held on February, 20, 2020. They joined together to present a uniquely crafted "Quilt of Valor" to Vietnam Veteran Sam Pyle for his distinguished service while deployed to Vietnam. During his time in Vietnam, Sam received the USAF Commendation Medal for meritorious Service in Vietnam, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with three stars, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, and the Outstanding Unit Ribbon.

As Quilts of Valor member Mary Chastain pointed out, there have been over 221,00 Quilts awarded to veterans since its conception in November 2003 at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
