On May 25th, 2017, Post 1982 partnered with USAG Ansbach, the Illesheim and Ansbach VFW posts, and the 9th JROTC Battalion to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam. The event was held in the Urlas PX parking lot and included free food and entertainment. Commemorative pins were presented to Vietnam Era Veterans by the USAG Ansbach Community Commander and cadets from the 9th JROTC Battalion. Post 1982's historian, Madonna Roberts, created the program. Entertainment was provided by the 9th JROTC battalion drill team and individual cadets, the USAREUR Jazz Combo, and the Ansbach Middle high School band. Cadets performed songs from the Vietnam War era including "These Boots Are Made for Walking" and "Crazy." There was a hulu hoop demonstration and drill team performances. CSM (Retired) Steininger was presented a Quilt of Valor. The program was a well attended tribute to honor the service and sacrifices of Vietnam War Veterans and their families.
