Commanders Report - As reported to you earlier in the year the property appraiser's office raised the valuation of the land and our Post Home to a whopping $63,800 and we paid a tax of $1,120.66. We arranged a meeting with Mr. Harold H, Prickett, Supervisor, Exempt Department to look into the situation and see what could be done. Mr. Prickett made available to us and we filled out an exemption form for part of the Post building and what grounds were being used as Post property. This was together with a full walk around inspection. The result of this effort was framed in a letter dated February 25, 1978, and it reads: "Your application of Ad Valorem tax exemption received, reviewed and your assessment for 1978 will be as follows: Exempt value $31,600, Non-exempt value $27,500". This, of course, represents a sizeable reduction the next years taxes, but your Executive Committee will have the final say as to this will be appealed to the Board of Tax Adjustment or abide by the valuation as set.

1st Vice - As of 3/13/78 we have 194 members paid to Department, only five members short of having 100%.

Chaplain/Veterans Service Officer - Glad to report that Commander Elvin Teague, Bud Lippold and Ruth Lippold are out of the hospital. Sorry to report that one of our members, Bernie Pickett has passed away.

Axiliary - New Officer Nominations - at April meeting - Betty Teague, Gladys Leddy, and Lou Anderson will serve as the nominating committee. Julie Jones will be our girl for the forthcoming Girls State.
