FROM THE OLD TO THE NEW
Early in 2000, then 1st Baptist Church Pastor Lansberry was looking to expand and the Legion's property directly behind the church was the most convenient. He proposed to obtain land, construct a building, and swap it for the Legion property. Eddie Higginbotham sold the church a plot of land on Hwy. 20 for a reasonable price. The present Pastor Henry McKinney assumed the project in 2006. Worley Construction, whose grandparents were charter members of the Post, was selected to construct the building and oversee volunteer church workers who are doing the interior work. Legion members will do the exterior and the
landscaping. It is hoped to be ready by late spring/early summer 2008.
