Neal Thomas, Jr.: Past Commander of Post 209; Past Dept. of Colorado Commander; Past National Executive Committeeman. Air Force Veteran of two wars, Neal, throughout most of his adult life, led many, many veterans to jobs and occupations, housing, rehabilitation, and of course, the American Legion. Chartered on 26 February, 1976, as Centennial Post 209, (originally chartered as "Templeton Gap Post 209") in Colorado Springs, the post took its name in honor of the 200-year Bicentennial of the United States, and the 100-year Centennial of the State of Colorado.
