American Legion Post 1985, with the Auxiliary and Sons units, were involved in this project to assist and aid veterans and their families in the Firestone, Frederick and Dacono areas plus the adjacent communities. The Post provided tables and chairs for the vendors and the registration area, volunteers throughout the day, and our own tables of items for the veterans. Our volunteers were involved in assisting with registration, guiding the veterans between areas, and manning the break area where the refreshments for the veterans and the volunteers were kept. Todd Fischer, the barber and our Chaplain, was probably the most popular volunteer at the Stand Down. The Post, the Auxiliary, and the Sons can all take pride in the assistance they rendered to the veterans in this area on April 26th, 2016.
