Post Patch, The American Legion National Camp; First Home of Post 170. In the Sangre De Christo mountains near today's Alvarado campground in the San Isabel National Forest. Photo of John Brandnmburg, at about 5 yrs old, with his uncle Maurice Ireland who was an Army Aviator in WWII and KIA. John is proud Post member and an Army Veteran from the Korean War era. The Flag is on the Post 170 fifty foot flagpole at the end of Main Street in Westcliffe. Every person who drives or walks or rides (a Horse) west on Main St. is greeted with this fantastic view. A 5X8 Flag flies daily and a 10X15 Flag flies on patriotic holidays with a 5X8 POW/MIA flag below.
