President Dwight D. Eisenhower attended the dedication of the new Herman Granados American Legion Post Hall at 44-200 Sun Gold St,, Indio, CA, on March 27, 1964. During the grand opening, President Eisenhower stated that he always felt it was unfair to ask men to go into battle without knowing the reasons why... something he made a point to articulate for his men during WWII, He also said,, "The ordinary GI is heroic a man as this country ever produced."
