Under Jasper Berry’s leadership the very first Armistice Day celebration in Ventura County held in Ventura organized by Post 48. An invitation was extended to by way of a newspaper ad in the Oxnard Daily Courier November 9 1920 to all ex-servicemen of G. A. R.’s (Grand Army of the Republic, {members of the Civil War}), and to veterans of the Spanish American War to participate in the Armistice Day celebration to be held November 11, 1920. In spite of inclement weather the celebration was a moderate success.
