Throughout the year members of our post support our fellow veterans, youth and youth programs and our community. This past May we held our 5th annual Veterans Memorial Day Gold Tournament at the Belmont Country Club. The American Legion partnered with the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 3225, the Clovis Veterans Memorial District and AmVets Post 2011to raise $27,000 with $20,000 going to support various Voluntary Service Programs at the VA. Below is a list of some of the programs and services supported by these donations:
· Recreational Mental Health Programs
· Veteran Transportation
· Caregiver Support
· Walk of Honor
· Veteran Outreach Services
· Chaplain Services
· Homeless Veterans
· Wheelchair Games
· Creative Arts Festival (Mental Health)
· Winter Sports Clinic
· Golden Age Games
· Christmas Activities
· Women’s Veteran Programs
The remaining $7,000 is being donated to various Veterans Support Organizations benefiting Central Valley Veterans. We have donated $7,000 of these funds to the following Veteran Support Organizations:
· $1,000 to Fresno State Veterans Service
· $1,000 to Central Valley Honor Flight
· $1,000 to Blue Star Moms
· $1,000 to Central Valley Veterans Foundation
· $500 to Central California Veterans Home Support Foundation
· $1,500 to Veterans Golden Age Games
· $1,000 Palo Alto Fischer House
