Every year the John H. Slaughter American Legion Post 30 participates in the Springerville Fourth of July Parade, for which the towns of Springerville and Eagar turn out in droves to sit in lawn chairs along the route to view and cheer the parade. The children run out to the floats to get the candy the adults on the floats toss out. In addition to the regular American Legion trailer with flags and members of the Color Guard, Legion members have been known to create and display a tank on small trailer behind the float, to drive a small plane along the parade trail, and even fire a small Civil War cannon.

Added thrills!

Here comes the Legion!

In other years. . .

Problems ahead?

And the tank brings up the rear.
