The John H. Slaughter American Legion Post 30 of Springerville, AZ hosted the Peace Officers Memorial Day event for the White Mountains on May 15, 2004. Present were a number of past and present Arizona American Legion commanders, representatives of the local and State VFW, heads of local Rotary, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Apache county sheriffs past and present, heads of Navajo and White Mountain Apache police, FBI agents, U.S. Forestry representatives, AZ Game and Fish Supervisor, chiefs of the Springerville, Eager and St. John's police departments, wardens correction officers of the Arizona prison system, mayors of EAger, Springerville and St. Johns,and the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.
