On May 22, 1988, the officers and members of District Six of the Arizona American Legion met at the John H. Slaughter American Legion Post 30 hall in Springerville. commemorated at this meeting was the Arizona State American Legion Convention fifty years earlier, in 1938, which was also hosted by Post 30 in Springerville.
