On December 19, 1935, for the sum of $200.00, the John H. Slaughter American Legion Post 30 acquired from the Becker Mercantile Company a property on South Mountain Avenue in Springerville.
That property became the home of the Post.

In 1991 the interior of the Post underwent remodeling by Merle Harper and Herb Erhart, who also enclosed the front porch, and built a 12 foot wide covered walkway the sidewalk. This building remained the home of Post 30 until spring of 1997 when it was replaced by a much larger building at 825 East Main Street, Springerville, constructed by volunteer Legion members.
