During the December general meeting, Paula Burr (Teacher) and Emily Gillaspy (Student) of the Veteran’s Heritage Project (VHP) stopped by to do a presentation about the program to the members attending the meeting. Our point of contact (POC) for the program, Joe Dellamarggio, Senior Vice-Commander scheduled the presentation. We had a wonderful time hearing about how students interview Veterans and later put their interviews and stories into the books each year that are eventually shown to the public within the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
We discovered that Emily is quite the talker and we recruited her to compete in the Department of Arizona Oratorical Contest. We hope to see her competing with many other students from the high schools within the valley of the sun.
