Henry John Sweeney was the first Manchester serviceman to pay the ultimate price while serving his country during the great war (WW1) when he was mortally wounded in France on February 18,1918. Manchester American Legion Post 2 which bares his name will acknowledge the 99th anniversary of his sacrifice on Saturday February 18 with a ceremony at his monument in the park that also bares his name located a block South of Herman F Little Square (Granite Square) on the City;s West Side. The event will feature the Post 2 Color Guard and Firing Squad and will start promptly at 9 AM Everyone is welcome to attend this event with a special invitation to any and all veterans organizations and individuals Following the ceremony coffee and pastry will be available at Post 2 Quarters at 251 Maple Street For more information please contact Post 2 past commander at www,alanheidenreich@aol.com ; or 603-623-8960
