Arndt T. Johnson Memorial Post #269.   The 15 veterans who founded the Post decided to name their Post after the first soldier killed in action from the Cushing area.  His name was Arndt T. Johnson and he was killed in action during WWI.  Private Johnson was killed in action on July 19, 1918 in the Marne Valley in France.  He was a member of the 58th Infantry Regiment, 4th Division, US Army.  He fought in the Aisne-Marne Counter Offensive and had a battlefield burial, however his grave has never been located.
