Post Namesake

The Hamm - Miller - Diedrich American Legion Post 145 has a rich and proud history. Pvt. Charles N. Hamm (1886-1918) joined Company I, 341st Infantry in the U.S. Army's 86th Division at the age of 31 in WWI. He was deployed to Europe and died in France. PFC James J. Miller (1924-1944) served in the 9th Armored Division in WWII. He was killed in action in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. Lance Corporal Robert J Diedrich was a rifleman serving with K Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division when he arrived in Vietnam in 1967. He was killed in action in the Quang Tri Province of South Vietnam.  Their legacy and names remain alive in Random Lake Post 145 and with their families that continue to live in the area.

What makes our Post unique is the never-ending commitment to service of our members, their families and our community over decades of change and trials. From the oldest member of 65 continuous years to our newest, we have never ceased to honor our founders and our Country. Through it all we remain standing together never forgetting the Four Pillars of the American Legion and our brothers and sisters of all the U.S. Armed Forces that have served our Country and continue to do so.
