Heath Ewell Post, Goliad, Texas was granted an original Charter on April 12, 1920. The post was initially named after LT. Heath Ewell (U.S. Army) who was the first person from Goliad, Texas to lose his life in WWI. On January 9, 1947 the post was granted approval to change the Post name to Ewell-Compton Post #193. S 2/C Thomas Compton (U.S. Navy) was the first person from Goliad, Texas to lose his life in WWII.
