First Lieutenant Andrew K. Stern (USMC), a native of Germantown, Tennessee, died in the line of duty while serving in Iraq on 17 September 2004. Stern was assigned to 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. In honor of his service Germantown Post 250 voted to rename itself Andrew K. Stern Post 250, and the change became official on 5 May 2013.
