Wayne W Slade South Dakota American Legion Department Commander 1972-1973 Wayne Slade was born January 3, 1924 at Mitchell, SD to Allen and Ida Slade. He graduated from Fulton High School, attended Southern Teacher’s College in Springfield, SD, and on December 12, 1942 enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He earned the rank of Technical Sergeant and served as a radio operator/gunner on B-24’s with the 371st Bombardment Squadron, 307th Bombardment Group in the Pacific Theater, logging 28 combat missions. Wayne married Bonnie Shabino on December 14, 1944 at Riverside, California. He was discharged from the service on December 12,.. Full story »
Fulton-Farmer-Epiphany American Legion Post 85 October 1919—February 2016 Fulton American Legion Post 85, Department of South Dakota was chartered on October 13, 1919 with 15 members listed on the post charter. Than at the December 19, 1952 post meeting a motion was made to rename the post to Fulton-Farmer-Epiphany Post 85. It appears that the new charter reflecting the name change was dated February 26, 1953. Members of the post had many different types of fund raising activities though out the years and supported many causes from these fund raisers. Some of the fund raisers were coyote, pheasant and rabbit.. Full story »
