Post "45" is unique in its efforts to be a part of and enhance the local community. Like many posts, Post "45" sponsors Boys State. In 2014 there were 7 young men that were funded to attend the leadership camp. Also, like many other posts, Post "45" sponsors an American Legion baseball team. Coached by the Athletic Officer "Mickey" Hall, the baseball team placed third in the state. To raise funds for the American Legion to continue supporting the community, Post "45" started its first annual "Run for the Vets 5K" race on October 11, 2014 and will continue in the future in the spring, the weekend prior to Memorial Day. Not only does Post "45" work with the service member, veterans or young men of the community, but the post strives to educate the community of the honor and sacrifice of the heroes of our past such as "The Four Chaplain's Day" event that was last held on February 3, 2015.
