Pelion Post 101 is less than 2 years old and has been the # 1 recruiting post 2 years in a row. That is recorded by back to back 100% by Veterans Day and doubling in size in both of those years, and is now the largest post in District 20. This is also very diverse group; black, white, hispanic, male female; ages ranging from 18 to 91 years of age, 26 still in the military and the majority under 60 years of age. The post chartered and is tethered with 101 Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Riders, continuing to provide even more public acclaim. A small town area that recently gained it's second traffic light. Post 101 is very recognizable in the community by the Town Hall, Police, Fire Department, Library, Senior Center, Schools, Civic Clubs and businesses. The Pillars of the American Legion are very obvious in the programs and contributions provided to this locale. The South Carolina National Guard and Local County Offices also call on the Pelion 101 Post, to aid and assist in numerous ceremonies, projects and support activities.
