About This Post

Post Namesake

The post namesake, Joseph W. Diehn grew up down the road from our current location on Sylvania-Metamora Rd. in Berkey, OH. He was deployed with the U.S. Infantry to fight on the European front of WWI. Joseph Diehn sustained an injury in France that turned fatal in 1919. He was the areas first WWI casualty. Mr. Diehn is currently buried in the Whiteford Union Cemetary on Sterns Rd. in Lambertville, MI and our color guard makes a yearly visit to pay their respects on Memorial Day.

What Makes this Post Unique

The Joseph W. Diehn post is unique due to its location and recent surge of activity! When the members moved the post from its downtown location to where it currently sits - they could not have imagined how the City of Sylvania and Sylvania Township would grow to its current size. Our local community and developed around us, creating a community hub that is both centrally located and easily accessible. We are convieniently located across the street from Olander Fossil Park, where we host our annual Armed Forces Day 5K! We also host the best views of the Sylvania fireworks each year, as they're displayed across the street. We also have the largest indoor dance floor and event space in Sylvania!
