What Makes this Post Unique
On October 4, 1919 the first meeting for the purpose of organizing a post was held in Cleveland County. The majority of NC counties had already organized a post. At a meeting on Friday, March 5, 1920, Peyton McSwain was elected temporary chairman of the post and it was decided that the post would be named for Warren F. Hoyle who was killed in battle in France. Twenty one men signed the March 6, 1920 application for an American Legion Post. The permanent charter was issued on June 27, 1922.
