Henry K. Burtner
Henry K. Burtner was Greensboro first Soldier to give his life for his country in World War I. He volunteered for service in 1917 and completed his training at Camp Hancock, Georgia.
After joining the 3rd Infantry Division, he went to France in April 1918. While engaged in combat action at Chateau-Thierry, he lost his life on the night of June 18, 1918 at age 19.

Temporary Charter Granted
Nov 20, 1919 Allen Adams a former Lieutenant of artillery and a young attorney of Greensboro circulated a petition for the establishment of an American Legion Post in Greensboro.
Aug 14, 2016 The Auxiliary was asked to host a social for the American Legion Auxiliary President, Sharon Conatser who was in North Carolina for American Legion World Series. The unit hosted an ice cream social for unit members, Auxiliary members from around the state as well as other Legion Family members.
